Students with no experience aside from the Novice Trial will be introduced to the basic tools of Muay Thai and Pad Holding practices. We will cover Stance, Movements and Basic Attacks while focusing on Form, Rhythm and Balance. Students are expected to stay in this level until a Lead Instructor graduates them to Beginner Muay Thai level.
This class will focus on developing the mechanics of Muay Thai learned from the Intro to Muay Thai classes. We’ll practice basic fluid combinations and introduce other offensive and defensive tools while improving on our speed and power. Students will remain in this level until they are invited to the Intermediate Muay Thai level by one of our Lead Instructors.
Students invited to the Intermediate level are proficient in utilizing most of the offensive and defensive tools of Muay Thai. They have a solid foundation of Form, Balance and Rhythm and have complete control of their power. In this level, we will introduce higher level techniques such as Sweeps and Clinching and develop safe practices for sparring through light contact partner drills.
If you have no experience in Muay Thai but are curious then this class is for you. We will start by teaching you the basic Stance, Movement, Punches and Basic Pad Holding for punches.

Erica is an experienced Muay Thai instructor and loves working with all levels of students from beginners to experienced fighters. As much as possible, Erica would return to Thailand to train and learn from the Masters. And now she passes on that experience to students of all levels in the hopes of removing the intimidation that can come from visiting boxing or kick boxing gyms. She loves sharing the knowledge and principles behind Muay Thai and helping people build their skills and strength. Erica believes Muay Thai has a deep connection to every part of our lives and helps create balance and confidence.
You’ll often hear Erica say, “dance with me” during her class. To her, Muay Thai is a like a dance, where you use the 8 limbs of Muay Thai to create a rhythm with your opponent.
Erica is thrilled to partner with Mandy as they share the same passion of making Muay Thai fun, and physically and mentally rewarding for anyone curious to try out this style of martial arts.
Dessert Lady was founded by talented young pastry chef Mandy Kan back in 2005. With a passion and love for food, Mandy was always fascinated with how much she could play and experiment with ingredients and flavours to create something memorable.
Driven by the idea that food brings people together, Mandy incorporates influences from different cultures into the sweet and savoury items at her successful bakery and café. During the pandemic, Dessert Lady café and bakery closed for 2 months. During this time of uncertainty, Mandy started experiencing mild anxiety and mental issues. While running a business during such a difficult time, Mandy started prioritizing her physical and mental health and began Muay Thai training with Erica. Month after month, not only was Dessert Lady getting better as business started to pick up, but Mandy was falling in love with Muay Thai and noticing the benefits of creating time for herself, learning new skills and forcing herself to take a break.
That’s when she decided to partner with Erica to open Break Time Muay Thai; to give other people the chance to learn from a great teacher, have fun, and experience the benefits for themselves.
